Our school values have been developed by staff, pupils and governors. They are the qualities we aim to develop in our children through our rich and engaging curriculum.
By the time they leave Buckingham Park Primary our children will have encountered a wealth of wonderful experiences and vital knowledge and skills. Our School Promises set our what our school curriculum and wide-ranging school experiences offer children to help them develop into well-rounded individuals, including culture, arts and sports; community and life lessons.
Culture, Arts and Sports
During their time at Buckingham Park your child will have many opportunities to take part in different cultural, art and sporting activities.
For example they will
- take part in a singing and musical performance in school
- meet an author
- visit museums and art galleries
- paint a self portrait
- learn to play an instrument
- know some core stories
- try a new sport
- visit a London theatre to see a show
- watch and listen to a live orchestra
Community
We want all our children to be good citizens of the local, national and world community. Learning about diversity, inspiring leaders and using our local environment will all help children to be valuable members of our school community and the wider world.
Whilst at Buckingham they will:
- raise money for a good cause
- visit Shoreham library
- visit our local area and learn about its history
- take part in a community event
- go to the beach and collect litter
- visit a place of worship
- learn about diverse people
- learn about people who help us
- grow something to eat in our school allotment
Our Vision
Buckingham Park is a safe, vibrant place of learning where children engage enthusiastically with a stimulating and challenging curriculum. All individuals will be valued and enabled to grow and achieve academically, socially and emotionally and develop the skills required for successful future lives in a rapidly changing society.
Life skills
Our children will leave Buckingham ready for the next stage of their life, having some key skills and experiences such as :
- learning to swim
- knowing their address
- attending a residential trip
- buying a gift and counting the change
- learning about different careers and jobs
- being part of a team
- building a camp fire and cooking on it
- learning to cook some simple recipes
- travelling on a train
- voting in a school election
